In a distant forest, there lived a group of lively monkeys. One evening, the moon was reflected in the clear stream, resembling a shining gem. The little monkeys saw this scene and jumped with excitement.
"Look! The moon has fallen into the water!" A little monkey shouted while pointing at the surface.
Other monkeys gathered around and watched the "moon" in the water, discussing excitedly. "We must pick it up, or it will sink." An older monkey said.
So, the monkeys decided to work together to bring the moon back. They formed a long "monkey chain" by holding each other's tails. The little monkey at the bottom stretched out his hand and tried to grab the "moon".
"Come on! Reach a little further!" The monkeys encouraged each other.
However, no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't catch the "moon". Finally, the monkeys were too tired to continue and had to give up.
"Why can't we catch the moon?" The little monkey asked puzzled.
"Because that's just the shadow of the moon, not the real one." The old monkey smiled and explained, "Although we can't really own it, it still beautifully hangs in the sky."
This story tells us that sometimes pursuing certain things may be futile, but we can still appreciate its beauty.
